여우가 포도가 너무 높게 매달려 있어서 그 포도가 신 포도라고 가정하고 포기하는 이야기.

1. Sour Grapes

One day, a hungry fox tried to reach a bunch of grapes hanging from a vine. But they were just too high. Finally, the fox gave up. As he walked away from the grapes, the fox decided that they were probably sour anyway.

When goals are difficult to achieve, some people decide that those goals are not worth achieving. (목표가 성취하기 너무 어려울때, 몇몇사람들은 그 목표가 성취할 가치가 없다고 결정한다.)

2. A lesson learned too late
Every night, a caged bird(우리에 갇힌 새) near a window began to sing. Having heard the bird many times, a bat finally asked her why she never sang in the daylight. "I used to(저도 그랬었죠.)" said the bird, "but that's why I was put in a cage. Now I never sing during the day," The bat frowned. "Silly bird," he said,"you should have thought that way before you were caught. Now you have no reason to be careful."
It's better to avoid making mistakes than trying to correct them later
